Still in the game
Sat, 07/26/2008 - 16:00 — AdminIn recent months, our pro tem Board of Directors, consisting of the following distinguished members: Edward Muska, Esq. (Chairperson); Rep. Penny Bacchiochi; Barbara Frassinelli; Justin Murphy, Esq.; and myself (Nancy Neff) have decided that there is enough of a need for a department store in the town of Stafford to continue moving forward with our project. We are pleased to announce that we have, once again, teamed up with the Cooperative Development Institute (CDI) who assisted us with obtaining grant money. Since Stafford Outfitters is now incorporated, we are nearly ready to begin the process of procuring startup capital by offering shares to the citizens of Connecticut.
Project Background
Sat, 01/12/2008 - 22:41 — Carol ErlingWhen the National Store of Stafford Springs closed in 1990 it was a great loss to the community. Particularly hard hit were those who lacked reliable transportation to reach out of town shops. The National had offered a wide variety of products such as notions, health & beauty aids, hardware, and clothing of all sizes and styles. Closing this store eliminated 70 plus jobs. Soon after a Big Wheel Department store was constructed and operated in town for approximately six years. When it closed 25 - 30 jobs were lost.
